Welcome, International Families !
My name is Sophie, and I am a qualified French School Teacher, certified by the French Ministry of Education, as well as a certified Psychopedagogue specialising in learning difficulties and executive functions. For more than 17 years, I have dedicated my career to helping children learn with confidence, curiosity, and enjoyment. After seven years teaching in French primary schools, I have spent over ten years working exclusively as a private tutor and psychopedagogue. I work primarily with children aged 3 to 12, providing more than 10,000 hours of one-to-one tuition and supporting over 400 children with a wide variety of educational profiles.
My ambition is not simply to help children succeed academically, but to help them become confident, curious, independent learners who enjoy learning and discovering the world around them.
A Truly Personalised Education
Every child is unique. My role is not simply to teach a curriculum but to understand how each child learns, what motivates them, what may be holding them back, and how to help them reach their full potential. I design highly personalised learning programmes that respect each child's personality, pace, strengths, interests, and individual needs.
Whether your child requires homeschooling, academic support, enrichment, or a travelling tutor, my objective remains the same: helping them develop confidence, independence, resilience, and a genuine love of learning.
Specialist in Learning Difficulties
I have extensive experience supporting children with :
* ADHD
* Dyslexia
* Dysorthographia
* Dyscalculia
* Executive function difficulties
* Learning delays
* Low self-confidence in learning
My educational approach combines explicit teaching, multisensory learning, metacognition, and evidence-based strategies inspired by cognitive neuroscience.
Executive functions—including working memory, inhibition, cognitive flexibility, planning, organisation, and self-regulation—are central to my practice. Strengthening these skills enables children to become more efficient, autonomous, and confident learners.
When appropriate, I also work closely with parents and communicate with the professionals supporting the child to ensure consistency in their educational journey.
Learning Through Play
Learning through play is at the heart of my teaching philosophy. Throughout my career, I have developed extensive expertise in using educational board games and playful learning activities as powerful teaching tools. I regularly incorporate carefully selected board games, logic games, cooperative games, construction challenges, creative projects, movement activities, and hands-on materials into my lessons. These activities help children develop literacy, mathematics, language, reasoning, executive functions, attention, memory, problem-solving, and social skills in a natural and enjoyable way.
Rather than using games simply for entertainment, I carefully select each activity with a specific educational objective. Children remain engaged, persevere more easily, and often make remarkable progress because learning feels meaningful and enjoyable.
This playful approach is particularly effective for children with ADHD, dyslexia, executive function difficulties, or other learning challenges. It helps them build confidence, stay motivated, and develop effective learning strategies while enjoying the learning process.
Every lesson is carefully balanced between structured teaching, meaningful play, and personalised activities, creating a positive learning environment where children feel safe, successful, and eager to learn.
Homeschooling & International Families
I have successfully supported several homeschooling projects by creating personalised educational programmes adapted to each family's lifestyle and each child's needs.
I particularly enjoy working with international families. Whether they are relocating, travelling, taking a sabbatical year, or choosing homeschooling , I can easily adapt to different educational systems, family routines, and cultural environments.
Nature as a Classroom
For me, education extends far beyond textbooks. Living on the Normandy coast has inspired both my personal life and my teaching. I love using nature as a classroom where children can observe, question, experiment, and discover. Whether we are observing birds, identifying plants, discovering insects, exploring coastal ecosystems, learning about animals, studying the weather, or simply walking through forests or along the coastline, every experience becomes an opportunity to learn.
I am also an enthusiastic sailor and regularly participate in regattas aboard a sailboat. I hold both the French Coastal Skipper Licence and the Offshore Skipper Licence, giving me practical experience in navigation, meteorology, route planning, chart reading, and maritime safety.
Outdoor learning naturally develops curiosity, observation skills, critical thinking, independence, and respect for the environment.
French Language & Bilingual Education
As a native French speaker, I can provide complete French immersion or bilingual educational support. Whether your family would like to introduce French naturally through everyday life or help your child develop stronger language skills, I create engaging lessons adapted to each child's age and level.
My good command of English enables me to communicate easily with international families while teaching confidently in multilingual environments.
More Than a Tutor
Families often tell me they appreciate my calm, patient, positive, and caring approach. I build trusting relationships with children by encouraging their curiosity, celebrating every success, and helping them believe in their own abilities.
Beyond academic achievement, my goal is to help children become organised, resilient, independent, and enthusiastic learners who enjoy taking on new challenges.
I see education as a partnership with families, built on trust, kindness, communication, and high expectations.
